Re: Paypal account
Thu, November 1, 2007 - 4:01 PMYou will receive an email immediately from Pay Pal when money is transferred to your account. Now setting up an account with Pay Pal is more than just 'point and click'. Make sure that your account is verified, and that can be a process. Next, make sure that you only do business with people who have verified accounts. Finally, make sure that you delete or report every single phishing email you get that states you need to go to www.someothersite.com/paypal.html to change your paypal information. Authentic paypal emails will have www.paypal/whateverothertext in that order.
I have a colleague who's boyfriend just lost about two grand by falling for the phishing scams that happen with Pay Pal accounts. The recipient of the funds were in Italy which makes United States prosecution very dicey on amounts less than 10g. Additionally, I have friends who have sent money to unverified pay pal accounts only to have them mysteriously disappear. Pay Pal is an awesome tool, and it will be the initial payment method on my upcoming site, but people get scammed on it all the time.
Best of luck.
