Hi,
I will be releasing a product soon and already have a domain name chosen for it.
Should my blog have a different domain name from the product websites or should I choose to post the blog on the same one?
I thought that if I use a different name it will throw people off and be even more objective, even though a blog is probably mostly subjective!!

Re: Which domain name should be used for a blog?
Thu, March 29, 2007 - 3:29 AMA blog on a web site is an extension of your e-marketing efforts. The link to the blog should be a part of the main menu along with the other links and the blog pages should use the same style as the rest of your site. A separate blog that appears to be objective but really isn't is sleazy IMO. -

Re: Which domain name should be used for a blog?
Fri, March 30, 2007 - 2:59 PMA business blog, whether you want it to or not, will be associated with your product or service. By trying to be "objective", you either underscore your product's value, which is advertising, or you bad mouth your product, which is counter productive to sales.
What makes it sleazy is that if your blog appears to be unrelated to the company, and that relationship is later discovered, your credibility as an objective source is GONE and so is your marketing effort. It is far better to be "up front" about that relationship and be treated as a wing of the marketing department, than to be shunned as an dishonest blogger.
IMHO...
